We have a new book in the shop.....Amy Barickman's
Vintage Notions!
I cannot say enough good things about this book. I was lucky enough to get a copy from my Momma for Christmas, and then shortly after in January we ran into Amy at the airport coming home from the CHA show in LA. She said you guys need to carry my book for all your stitchers! And poof.....we have it now! It is a wonderful Mother's Day gift-a book any woman would treasure.
Amy really did a HUGE amount of research for this book. She Had the writings of Mary Brooks Pickens (the gal would could rival Martha Stewart with her crafting knowledge in my opinion--and win!) behind her as a starting point and she added to them all the wonderful images and ideas.
The book is divided by seasons and so inspiring. There is sections on fashion, sewing, cooking (many vintage recipes included) and inspiration.
Take a closer look at the toaster cover above....it says : Hot Toast makes the "butterfly"! So cute!! I am going to have to make a cover for my four slicer with this image, I just love it!
I just love these roosters. I don't know if it is the colors or the simplicity, but dog gone those are some cute roosters. I can only imagine the linens collection Amy must have after this project. I think my favorite part of the book is a section on up-cyling a man's dress shirt into an apron. It is so cute and a perfect idea (sorry I didnt get a snap shot of that one-I will have to include it when I make one). Does anyone else out there already have copy of the book? let me know your favorite section!
Happy Reading and Stitching all!
Brooke
